WMG, University of Warwick are looking for a Technology Transfer Engineer – Polymer Materials.

£31,406 – £40,927 pa Fixed Term Contract until 31/03/23

The WMG SME Group are seeking to appoint several Technology Transfer Engineer posts to join their dynamic team to assist in the delivery of our Digital Innovation for Manufacturing (DI4M) project. This project helps manufacturing SMEs become more productive and competitive. The group aims to accelerate SME economic growth through research-led innovation and by building strong sustainable collaborative relationships with SME businesses and partner organisations.

The ideal candidate will have a background in one or more of the following:

  • Able to use several polymer analytical equipment, such as DSC, FTIR, TGA, DMTA, Charpy, Izod, HDT, Vicat and Microscopy
  • Polymer materials testing and characterisation, interpretation of analytical results
  • Thermoplastic, thermoset and rubber materials chemistry
  • Polymer materials processing, using extrusion, injection moulding, vacuum forming and other variations

Candidates should have a background gained in the application of technological innovation within business or industry. You should be skilled in carrying out technical investigations of new solutions and making technical recommendations before implementing them within the client environment. Good project management skills and excellent interpersonal skills are also required.

You should be degree level qualified, ideally at postgraduate level in a relevant subject and/or have significant applied industrial experience. Being self-motivated and having a highly flexible approach to work, with a readiness to travel throughout the West Midlands and the UK to visit clients and partners, is also desirable.
