Supply Chain Transition Programme

About the Supply Chain Transition Programme

The Supply Chain Transition Programme (funded via the Commonwealth Games Legacy Fund) aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the West Midlands (WM) to diversify their customer base by winning new orders in growing areas of the economy.  It will do this through a combination of workshops, intensive one-to-one coaching, peer to peer support and events that host buyers from organisations seeking to diversify their supplier base in the West Midlands.

The Supply Chain Transition Programme aims to help 160 firms in the West Midlands. The support will help businesses win new orders in the priority clusters in the Plan for Growth.

By the end of delivery, we expect to see evidence that one or more of the following outputs have been achieved by the businesses supported through the programme:

•    increased value and volume of sales with new customers operating in the priority and nascent clusters defined in the WM Plan for Growth
•    increased employment

How the programme supports SMEs

The Supply Chain Transition Programme will support WM SMEs in a variety of ways, including for example:
•    Preparation of a roadmap towards new sales in the target cluster(s)
•    Risk analysis, mitigation, prevention, and planning.
•    Enhance the capacity and/or capability of the management team and board of directors.
•    New accreditations or certifications
•    Marketing strategy development and execution
•    Training and recruitment – need analysis and planning.
•    Organising Meet-the-Buyer events with buyers from key customers or OEMs
