The Venturefest programme is well and truly taking shape as keynote speakers Sherry Coutu, Chairman of the Scaleup Institute & Founders4schools and Marcus Burton, Director – Yamazaki Mazak UK Ltd both confirm their place in the line-up for Thursday 27th September 2018.

Sherry Coutu is a former CEO and angel investor who serves on the boards of companies, charities and universities. She chairs Founders4Schools and is a non-executive member of Cambridge University (Finance Board), Cambridge Assessment, Cambridge University Press and a NED of Zoopla and the London Stock Exchange Group. She also serves on the Advisory Board of Linkedin.com.

Philanthropically, she supports the Prince’s Trust, the Crick Institute and serves on the Harvard Business School European Advisory Council. Sherry has an MBA from Harvard, an MSc (with distinction) from the London School of Economics, and a BA (Hons with distinction) from the University of British Columbia, Canada. She was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to entrepreneurship in the New Year’s Honours List 2013, is the author of ‘The Scale-up Report’ on UK economic growth and serves as an Ambassador for London.

Marcus Burton joined Yamazaki Mazak* as Group Business Development Director for Europe in October 2005.

With a history of working across Europe and Japan managing Mazak’s operations including Manufacturing, Engineering and the European Sales and Service subsidiary companies, Marcus has a specific interest and expertise in future business strategy and external relations which has taken on more significance since the decision of the UK to leave the European Union.

Marcus is also a board member of the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) and is Chairman of the Economic Committee of CECIMO, the European Association representing the common interests of the Machine Tool Industry.

Yamazaki Mazak is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of metal cutting machine tools used in the manufacture of components for all sectors including aerospace, energy, automotive, medical and industrial products. The company has a sales turnover of over $2.5 billion and 7,500 employees worldwide. The European headquarters is based in Worcester, England where more than 50% of the machine tools sold in Europe are manufactured.
