The University of Warwick is pleased to share details of this year’s funded internship programme, offering UK-based small and medium-sized enterprises and charities 6 weeks project-based collaboration with a Warwick undergraduate student/finalist, supported by a VAT-free reimbursement grant of *£2300 (£2600 where the host organisation is located in Greater London).
“Absolutely fabulous resource for us – they had a really positive effect on bringing in energy, manpower and enthusiasm! We’ve offered both of them ongoing jobs with us” WIP Host 2021.
The Warwick Internship Programme (WIP) retains comprehensive funding and high-quality student participation, with a continued emphasis on:
- projects that can be undertaken remotely if required
- internships starting from the end of June
- following a fixed programme timeline.
Types of projects and students taking part
Last year internship projects ranged from marketing, research and social media, to data analysis and finance, with undergraduate students and finalists joining the programme from the faculties of Social Science, Arts and Science, Engineering and Medicine. Our stats show that the programme increases student motivation to work for a small or medium-sized enterprise, by highlighting the ability to pivot, and facilitating increased exposure to a whole business in comparison with internships in larger organisations.
Next
- Visit the website to check programme information, criteria for taking part, areas to consider, host commitment and programme timeline
- Register for the programme and submit a vacancy (using our template) via the website. Registration does not commit your organisation to participating in WIP but will ensure that you receive communications from us about the programme. Internship vacancies can be submitted until 7 March.
*Please note: Due to the finite nature of our funding, we are unable to guarantee your bid will be successful. There will be 45-50 grants awarded in total and we expect the usual 120-130 vacancies to go live to students. Prior to submitting a vacancy, you may wish to consider self-funding the intern, taking advantage of the programme benefits of free vacancy advertising, vigorous marketing, a thorough review of your advert with recommendations for optimising impact, and access to the University’s internships team and employer resources throughout. Grants are once again available on a first come, first-served basis with funding for a maximum of 2 different internships per organisation. A picture of vacancies advertised, registered students and funding available will be on the WIP website.
