Innovative Manufacturing Working Group: 13th September

An in-person event to demonstrate to Manufacturing SME’s how Innovation can be used to diversify across sectors.

Join us for this in-person event to bring manufacturers, support organisations and others together to look at how we can use Innovation to help SME’s diversify across sectors.

The Innovative Manufacturing Working Group (IMWG) are offering SME’s the opportunity to learn from business examples showing the use of Innovation to enable diversification across sectors and how manufacturing companies can benefit. The session led by the University of Birmingham DIGI-RAIL team will introduce speakers from businesses that have diversified across sectors introducing products and processes successfully applied in one sector to another to open up new markets.

Presentation 1 – Diversification journey into rail with examples from companies championing Innovative products and services from other sectors into rail.

Presentation 2 – Aerospace manufacturing company diversifying into other sectors.

Presentation 3 – We also have a guest speaker Jenny Cooke CEng, MICE who is the Programme Engineering Manager for Network Rail Central Route, she will be talking about the remodelling and refurbishment of University Station against the backdrop of a significant challenge posed by the Commonwealth Games including an insight into the challenges faced and what opportunities there are for manufacturers.

Presentation 4 – There will also be an optional session to take a tour of the University of Birmingham’s capabilities including a simulation suite and digital twin suite.
