How to make construction more sustainable: a balanced approach to environmental responsibility.
The University of Birmingham invites SME’s in the West Midlands to join them as they explore sustainable construction, innovative materials and technologies that will impact the design and build of your buildings.
While businesses from different industry sectors are finding innovative ways to be more environmentally responsible, the construction industry has the greatest opportunity to reduce its carbon impact since it is considered the largest user of global resources. The construction industry is quoted as being responsible for approximately 50% of the worldwide consumption of raw materials and is a significant waste producer. Construction has a huge opportunity to be more sustainable by changing outdated practices and thereby significantly reducing carbon emissions and positively contributing to the circular economy.
Through this masterclass and further support, we will explore sustainable construction and technologies that could benefit your business. Transforming carbon-intensive projects to sustainable, low carbon alternatives. Discussions will be led by subject/Industry specialists and you will leave CPD certification for your attendance.
Topics that will be covered:
• Sustainability in Construction – Groundwork & Main Contractor
• Life cycle Assessment in Construction
• UoB’s Sustainable Campus / AI in construction
