Dr Michaela Kendall is CEO of Adelan, the longest running fuel cell company in Britain and a business she co-founded in The Midlands in 1996. Adelan commercialises a clean energy (fuel cell) technology she co-invented with Prof Kevin Kendall FRS in the early 1990s. Addressing the emissions, security and cost of energy throughout her career, she secured the widest international cooperation in the US, Europe and Asia to realise global ambitions for hydrogen and fuel cells. After a 30 year career in the area, she was recently recognised as a global pioneer in accelerating the energy transition in the hydrogen and fuel cells challenge of Mission Innovation, an initiative part funded by the EC and Bill Gates. She was named as the first UK Mission Innovation Champion in 2020 by a scheme administered by BEIS.
