Date: 11 January 2022

Time: 16:15-17:00

Location: Online – Zoom

How does sustainability relate to health?

By understanding health and sustainability as a duality, health both creates conditions and is conditioned by sustainability, understood as economic, social and environmental sustainability, while on the other hand sustainability creates and is conditioned by human health.

The focus:

• Health and Sustainability Agenda

• Waste Management

• Health Inequality

• Case Study – Sustainability review of reusable sharps containers

To start this conversation, we are delighted to be joined by Anna Bright, Chief Executive, Sustainability West Midlands.

Anna has worked within the environmental management sector for the past 20 years, is on the board of the Midlands Energy Hub and the Innovation Alliance for the West Midlands, Anna is appointed as Trustee of the Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country.

Anna will introduce the Sustainability West Midlands Health and Sustainability agenda including flagged elements of sustainability as ‘wider social goals’. In addition, how we will consider how NHS organisations have a significant stake in their local area and sizeable assets that can be used to support local community health and wellbeing, including tackling health inequalities.
